What are the system requirements for the SharePointLMS?
Minimum server configuration:
CPU: PIII 1.5GHz
RAM: 1 GB
HDD: 20 GB
for 1000 users:
2 servers with 2 GHz Dual core CPUs
3 GB or more for better performance
RAID 5 or RAID 10 on 4+Fast HDD for performance and data safe
for 5000 users
2 servers with 3+GHz QuadCore CPUs
8GB RAM or more for better performance
RAID 5 or RAID 10 on 4+Fast HDD for performance and data safe
for 10000 users
3 servers with 2x 3GHz QuadCore CPUs
16GB RAM or more for better performance
RAID 5 or RAID 10 on 4+Fast HDD for performance and data safe
for 10000+ users
3+ servers with 2x3GHz QuadCore CPUs
16GB+ RAM
RAID 5 or RAID 10 on 4+ fast HDD
NOTES:
All configurations can use for content servers RAID1 storage on 2 small but still fast HDD (can be used SSD)
Use multiple DB servers and multiple content servers for load balancing and redundancy.
Use monitoring tools to tune your server farm performance and avoid botlenecks in your farm configuration
Server Software Requirements:
Windows 2003 Standard/Enterprise
SQL Server 2005 all editions except "embedded edition"
WSS 3.0/MOSS 2007
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
Client requirements:
IE 5.5+
MS Office 2007 (for better client integration)
Adobe Flash Player (For conference support)
Network connectivity to SharePoint server and FMS server
Can we use Sharepoint LMS with WSS3.0?
Yes. SharePointLMS is fully compatible with Windows Sharepoint Service 3.0.
What is a typical implementation timeframe?
No definitive timeframe exists because each implementation’s requirements vary. Various factors contribute to the length of any implementation. They include:
* extent of user interface customization (optional)
* amount of courses that need to be created and imported,
* integration with HR or ERP system (optional)
* identifying those persons to be given the appropriate administration and user permissions
* registration of desired domain names (optional)
Does Elearningforce Inc. provide support to help with my SharePointLMS implementation?
Yes, Elearningforce Inc. provides various levels of consulting through its Professional Services group to help with most aspects of getting SharePointLMS up and running.
The local support like phone calls, local hardware configuring, LMS installation, training, etc. could be provided by or resellers.
How should on-going maintenance be handled once the implementation is complete?
On-going maintenance primarily involves several factors: application and database backups, periodic reviews of data stored in the database and the application of all appropriate service packs and updates for SharePointLMS and the server on which it resides. A properly constructed database maintenance plan would include both full and incremental backups of the database and transaction log files and rebuilding of the table indexes. A file system backup will ensure protection of the SharePointLMS application files and all course-related files. Finally, periodic reviews of the database to remove outdated, non-essential data will help ensure that your production database will be able to meet all of its future performance objectives. Proper backups ensure that this data will always be available particularly if federal or state law requires data to be accessible for a certain time period.
How are revisions and service packs handled?
Elearningforce Inc. typically releases all updates (e.g. revisions, service packs and hot fixes) as downloadable Windows installer files or compressed zip files. Appropriate documentation will be included with any release indicating how to apply the update.
